Financial Aid

A student must apply for admission; and, be accepted to the Academy of Palm Beach, prior to applying for financial aid. Financial aid is available to those who qualify. The student must maintain satisfactory academic progress to receive financial aid. Financial aid is awarded based upon need. Each student applying for financial aid will receive a copy of "The Student Guide" which tells you about federal student financial aid programs, and how to apply for them. The Financial Aid office is open day or evening by appointment only.

The United States Department of Education defines an academic year as 900 clock hours, this is one factor used in determining the amount awarded to the student's eligibility for financial aid. Full time students at the Academy are expected to attend 24 hours per week.

Grant Program

The Academy is an eligible institution for disbursing Federal Pell Grants. This is an entitlement program, which means the grant moneys do not have to be paid back. If you are in default on a previous student loan, or if you hold a Bachelor's degree, you will not be eligible for a Pell Grant. Our school provides electronic processing of the information from the Free Application for Financial Student Assistance. "Turnaround" time with our electronic processing, is approximately 72 hours, rather than the normal 4-6 weeks of paper processing. Students who have been accepted into the program will be scheduled for financial aid paperwork on an individual basis.

Loan Programs

• Federal Direct Subsidized Stafford Loan
  This is a low interest variable rate loan for students attending a school at least half time. This loan must be paid back.
• Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan
  This is a low interest variable rate loan for independent students enrolled at least half time. This loan must be paid back.
• Federal Direct Plus Loan
  This is a low interest variable rate loan, for parents who want to borrow to help pay for their children's education. This loan is only available to parents with good credit histories. This loan must be paid back.
