Program Description

beauty therapy pictureBeauty Therapy provides comprehensive training in anatomy, physiology and Swedish massage and incorporates courses in hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, Florida massage and facial law, ethical procedures, business practices, also training in facial treatments with or without the use of machines, and correct procedures in waxing.

This program is designed to teach and train students with the basic knowledge required in both Massage Therapy and Facial Specialty. Tuition fee is $12,175.00 for this course of study. The Beauty Therapy program of study  can be completed in nine (9) months, 27.50 hours per week, which is full time, or can be completed in eleven (11) months, by completing 22 hours per week, which is three quarter ( ¾ ) time. Upon completion, students will be eligible to take the Florida State licensing examination for Massage Therapy and be registered with the state of Florida, as a Facial Specialist.

skin care pictureTo motivate the students to become qualified Massage Therapists and registered Facial Specialists. Upon graduation they are registered as a Facial Specialist, and upon passing the state exam for Massage Therapists, the graduates become Licensed Massage Therapists. The Beauty Therapist can seek dual positions at entry-level in Massage Therapy and Skin Care.

In order to graduate, students must complete all required course work, pass all final examinations, pay all tuition fees, and meet the requirements of all Academy rules and regulations.

The costs for two sets of uniforms and the English textbooks for massage are included within tuition. Any other textbook format (for example), Spanish version, the difference in cost will be the responsibility of the student. The facial products, supplies and textbook are approximately between $443.00 - $450.00. An Oakworks Aurora massage table will be issued upon receipt of the Massage licensure number issued by the State of Florida. Facial products and waxing kits will be used during class and for practical and clinic practice.

Upon successful completion of the full program, students will receive a certificate of completion required to qualify for the Florida Massage Therapy State Licensing examination, and registration as a Facial Specialist in Florida. No certificate is awarded for Partial completion.   1. Facials: Manual, and Mechanical. Including: Masks, Packs, or Treatments, which must be performed on a variety of skin types including: Normal, Oily, Dry, Combination, Problem, and Mature
    (60 Services) (60 Hours)
  2. Setup, use, and maintenance of electrical devices.
    (5 Services) (1.25 Hours)
  3. Hair Removal, Including: Tweezing, Waxing, Threading, and Sugaring.
    (20 Services) (5 Hours)
  4. Makeup Application for both day time, and night time looks.
    (10 Services) (5 Hours)
  5. Lash and Brow Tinting.
    (10 Services) (5 Hours)
  6. Eyelash application, including: Strip Lashes, Individual Lashes, and Semi-Permanent Lashes.
    (10 Services) (10 Hours)
  7. Manual Extractions
    (5 Services) (1.25 Hours)

    Total Program Hours: 900 Hours
    Program Length: 9 Months
    [900 Lecture Hours with 225 (lab) Clinical Massage Hours and 120 (lab) services in skin]
